Common questions
Straight answers, no runaround
How quickly can you get to me in an electrical emergency?
We run a 24/7 emergency line across Cape Town. In Durbanville, Bellville and the surrounding Northern Suburbs we're typically on site within the hour, day or night. Phone 082 936 7961 rather than using the form for anything urgent.
What does a Certificate of Compliance (COC) cost?
The inspection fee depends on the size of the property and how many circuits need testing. Any faults picked up during the inspection are quoted separately and itemised, so you approve the repair cost before we start. Send us the property details and we'll give you a firm price up front.
Are you a registered and insured electrical contractor?
Yes. BrightWire Electrical is a registered electrical contractor, works to SANS 10142-1, is PV Green Card accredited for solar PV, and backs every job with a 12-month workmanship guarantee.
Which areas around Cape Town do you cover?
We're based in Loevenstein and cover Durbanville, Bellville, Kenridge, Welgemoed, Plattekloof, Brackenfell, Kraaifontein and the wider Northern Suburbs, plus Cape Town CBD and surrounds on request.
Why does my DB board keep tripping?
A repeatedly tripping earth leakage or breaker almost always means a real fault: moisture in a circuit, a failing geyser element, a damaged appliance, or overloaded wiring. Resetting it over and over hides the problem instead of solving it. We isolate the faulty circuit with proper test equipment and fix the cause, not the symptom.
Do you install solar and battery backup systems?
Yes. We're PV Green Card accredited and design, supply and install hybrid solar, off-grid and battery backup systems sized to your actual usage — including the compliance paperwork the installation requires.
